Hilde Braet is WINNER with her master-thesis "Aspects of ethical photography. Research into the possibilities of the medium photography to contribute to emancipatory processes, empowerment and well-being" of the prestigious Max van der Kamp – scriptieprijs 2011.
'De bijzondere combinatie van empowerment, ethiek, kunsteducatie en fotografie kan het veld zeker anders laten nadenken...   Hilde Braet is fotograaf en volgde de master Cultuurwetenschappen aan de Vrije Universiteit Brussel. In haar scriptie 'Aspecten van ethische fotografie' analyseert ze verschillende classificatiesystemen voor fotografie, en stelt ze vast dat Instrumentele Fotografie thuishoort bij de 'ethisch evaluerende fotografie'. Deze categorie diept ze verder uit via feministische en postkoloniale theorieën. Ook voerde ze twee casestudies uit. Ze concludeert dat ethische fotografie kan worden ingezet voor emancipatie, socialisatie en educatie.
